Wayne Rooney’s brother copies Man Utd legend with goal from halfway line
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is not the only person in his family capable of producing magic out of nothing.
The former England captain, 38, may be struggling on the managerial front at Birmingham City, but he is widely regarded as being one of the finest players to emerge from this country. But while the legendary forward's boots have been hung up for many years, his younger brother John is ensuring the family name is still delivering on the pitch.
He scored an absolutely sublime goal for non-league Macclesfield FC in a 1-1 draw against Basford Town. It was a strike the Champions League winner would have been proud of.

In similar fashion to the two occasions when Wayne found the net from around 50-yards out against West Ham, John, 32, looked up and saw the goalkeeper was off his line. Instead of looking for a team-mate to pass to, John swiped his foot through the ball and sent it into the air.
The goalkeeper clumsily back-peddled towards his goal-line to no avail, as the ball was in the back of the net by the time he helplessly threw both arms in the air. Rooney's stunned team-mates immediately flocked to celebrate his goal, while the fans cheered and gasped in disbelief at what they saw.

It was a strike that would have brought back memories of Rooney's wondergoals against West Ham for Manchester Un ited and Everton. On two occasions, Rooney found the back of the net from inside his own half against the Hammers.
The first time was at Upton Park all the way back in 2014, when he instinctively smashed a 60 yard half-volley into the air, over the top of a dizzy Adrian and into the back of the net.
Three seasons later, while donning the blue of Everton, poor clearance from then Hammer Joe Hart fell into his path, for him to strike first time and watch it sail past the helpless shot-stopper, over Angelo Ogbonna's head and into the goal.
It also completed a spectacular hat-trick for himself and a 4-0 home win for the Toffees at Goodison Park.
