Golfer, 91, overcome with joy as he hits one of the oldest-ever hole-in-ones

An OAP golfer was overcome with joy after he hit a hole-in-one at the age of 91 years young.

Willie Clinton is nine years short of 100, but he proved he can still wallop a ball more than 100 yards on the golf course. Considering his lofty age, the fact he is still able to have a round while pushing his own golf trolley is impressive in itself.

However, the senior citizen proved class is permanent when he became one of the oldest players to ever hit a hole-in-one. After a video of the delighted pensioner celebrating his miraculous shot was uploaded onto the social media, sports fans came out in their numbers to serenade him with praise.

"This is absolutely brilliant," one fan commented. "91 years old. Imagine still loving and being able to do sport at that age," a second tweeted.

One heavily inspired golfer conveyed his sheer admiration for Clinton when they wrote: "Something we can all aspire to." An almost emotional sounding fan also said: "What a sport man, I’ll be buzzing if I’m still walking the course at 91."

Another member of the golfing world also said: "This fella deserves sport’s personality of the year." While fans were finding all sorts of ways to crown his miraculous achievement, one supporter kept things simple by saying: "Well done that man!! I hope I'm still hitting a ball around at his age. Great to see."

In the video, Clinton could be seen smiling and laughing when he and his friends realised he got a hole-in-one. He marked the occasion by picking the ball out of the hole and lifting it into the air like a trophy.

However, if he has ambitions of becoming the oldest ever player to hit a hole-in-one, he will need to wait another 12 years. The Guinness World Record for the oldest player to record that feat belongs to PGA professional Gus Andreone.

He was 103 years old when he found the hole at the first time of asking from 113-yards at Palm Aire Country Club in Sarasota, Fla, in 2014. Andreone passed away at the age of 107 in 2018.
