F1 fans want to know why Gordan Ramsay and Rod Stewart are at the Las Vegas GP

Formula One fans have joked they'd love to know what Rod Stewart and Gordan Ramsay were talking about at the Las Vegas GP.

The pair were spotted together in the paddock ahead of the first qualifying session in the early hours of Saturday morning. And, alongside Stewart's yellow jacket, fans were wondering what the pair could be talking about.

"What is going on with this photo… Rod Stewart and Gordon Ramsay were stood next to each other," one fan joked. While a second added: "Rod Stewart looks like the kind of person I imagine would've been at the 82 Vegas GP…"

"Rod Stewart and Gordon Ramsay was a bit of a jump scare what a weird combination," a third added. And another replied: "Why are Rod Stewart and Gordon Ramsay in the same booth for qualification?"

"Gordon Ramsay and Rod Stewart hello," a fifth joked. And one fan was taken aback by the combination he couldn't focus on the racing: "I want to watch qualifying, but why is Rod Stewart there?"

On the track, Charles Leclerc took pole position with his team-mate Carlos Sainz finishing second and Max Verstappen third. However, Sainz will start from 12 on Sunday following a ten place grid penalty for an incident that happened during FP1.

Leclerc said: "Of course I'm happy, first in Las Vegas, obviously it's an incredible event. However, I'm a bit disappointed with my laps in Q3. I didn't do a good enough job but it was enough for P1 so that is all we need.

"Now all focus is on tomorrow and putting everything together to focus on the race. Normally that is where we lack most performance, so I will hope we can put it all together and win here."
