Lamine Yamal has signed his first professional contract with Barcelona which includes a stunning release clause.

The 16-year-old wonderkid has already made 13 appearances for the Spanish giants, having made his debut at the age of 15 years, nine months and 16 days against Real Betis back in April.

Yamal has featured in every LaLiga game this season, providing two assists in a 4-3 victory over Villarreal last month.

The Spanish giants have now confirmed that they have rewarded the winger with a new three-year deal.

His contract includes a staggering release clause worth €1bn (£868m) in an effort to stave off interest from other European giants.

The 16-year-old has played a part in all of Barcelona’s LaLiga games this season, bagging two assists while also playing a part in Sergio Ramos’ own goal in 1 -0 victory over Sevilla

Xavi handed Yamal his Barcelona debut at the age of 15 during a clash with Real Betis in April

There have been reports that clubs including Manchester City have kept tabs on Yamal since he made his Barcelona breakthrough.

The three-year deal is the maximum that Barcelona can offer until Yamal turns 18 – when Barcelona undoubtedly will be planning to offer him a longer deal.

Yamal recently became Barcelona’s youngest debutant in the Champions League against Royal Antwerp, while he also made history with Spain’s senior side, becoming their youngest player during a 7-1 victory over Georgia last month.

The 16-year-old joins the likes of Gavi and Pedri in a young core that could provide the base for Barcelona’s next dynasty.

Yamal arrived at La Masia at the age of seven and has rocketed up their youth ranks.

Back in 2016, he was Sergio Ramos’ mascot during an El Clasico clash at the age of eight.

On Friday, he came up against Ramos during Barcelona’s clash with Sevilla, forcing the former Real Madrid defender to score an own goal in a 1-0 victory for Xavi’s side.

His impressive performances for Barcelona led to him receiving his senior Spain debut

Results have been steady this season, with Saturday’s win taking the Spanish champions within a point of league leaders Real Madrid.

They are yet to produce their best football, though, with just two of their six league wins coming by a margin of more than one goal.

With Spain’s two biggest clubs separated by so little, Real’s trip to the Olympic Stadium for the Clasico at the end of October could be one of the biggest in recent memory.

Yamal could play a part in Barcelona’s trip to Porto in the Champions League on Wednesday.
