German paper Bild’s scathing ratings for Man Utd give Erik ten Hag wake-up call
Manchester United were given scathing ratings for their 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich by German newspaper Bild.
While the tight scoreline may suggest otherwise, United were comfortably beat on their travels in the Champions League last night (September 20). They were within a goal of their opponents for just nine minutes of the match after falling 2-0 behind in the first half.
Their sub-standard performance was reflected in several brutal ratings from Bild, who have a score system where one is the best and six is the worst. As many as five of Erik ten Hag's starting XI were handed a score of five.

Andre Onana was one after his howler gifted Bayern the lead. Defenders Lisandro Martinez, Victor Lindelof and Diogo Dalot were also slammed for their role in conceding four times.
Right winger Facundo Pellistri, who made little impact filling in for the absent Antony, was the other player. And Ten Hag himself was given a rating of five too.

Sergio Reguilon and Christian Eriksen were fours according to the publication, with the rest of the team – Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund – getting a three.
Ten Hag suggested his side's work rate wasn't up to scratch after their fourth defeat in the first six games of the season – their worst start to a campaign since before Sir Alex Ferguson's arrival at Old Trafford.
He said post-match: "You have to suffer, sacrifice in situations, to give everything and to stop that and only when we get that in are we going to win games.
"We have to make our own luck and that has to do with determination, then you make your own luck otherwise you don't get it because no one will bring you anything in football."
