Kante’s Club World Cup wondergoal has Chelsea fans begging him to ‘come home’

Chelsea fans are begging N'Golo Kante to return to Stamford Bridge after he netted a wondergoal in the Club World Cup.

Kante left the Blues over the summer to move to Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Pro League. And the Frenchman was among the starters as they opened up their Club World Cup campaign against Auckland City on Tuesday evening.

With the Saudi side 1-0 up, the ball fell to Kante on the edge of the box, and he cut across the ball – sending it spinning into the roof of the net. And Blues fans want a Stamford Bridge reunion after seeing the strike.

"Such a waste. Seeing the crap in Chelsea’s midfield on the weekend, this fella shouldn’t be in Saudi," one fan sighed. While a second said: "Get this man back and stick him up front over Nicolas Jackson ASAP!"

"Even N’Golo, who isn’t a goalscorer, is now scoring goals since he has moved on," a third fumed. And another added: "Times like this where I do miss N’Golo (N’Goalo?)"

Romarinho and Karim Benzema joined Kante on the scoresheet as the Saudi side breezed past the champions of Oceania in the opening round.

Al-Ittihad will now play Al Ahly in the second round, while Leon and the Urawa Reds will clash in the other game. Awaiting in the semi-finals for the winners are the two biggest sides in the competition: Copa Libertadores winners Fluminense and Champions League holders Manchester City.
