Liverpool midfielder Thiago is reportedly attracting interest from Italian giants Juventus and Inter Milan.

The Spanish midfielder is yet to play for the Reds this season due to a hip injury, with his last appearance coming on April 26 against West Ham.

Thiago was the only one of Liverpool’s more experienced midfield players to stay at the club in the summer, with Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, James Milner and Naby Keita all leaving the club.

However, Spanish publication Fichajes have now claimed that the 32-year-old could leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the season.

He would be free to speak to overseas clubs in January, and it’s reported that Juventus and Inter Milan have emerged as contenders in the race for his services.

Thiago is yet to play in Italy having previously played for European giants Barcelona and Bayern Munich before joining Liverpool.

There were high hopes for Thiago when he joined Liverpool, having previously played a massive part in Bayern Munich’s Champions League winning success in 2020, before making the move to Anfield the same summer.

While his performance on the pitch have made him one of Liverpool’s strongest midfielders over recent years, a number of injuries have affected his playing time.

To date, he has played 97 games for the Reds in which he has scored three goals and provided six assists.

He played a big part as Liverpool narrowly missed out on the quadruple in the 2021-22 season – winning the FA Cup and Carabao Cup.

Thiago has been in and out of training during the opening months of the season as he recovers from his hip injury.

Though Klopp said it’s unlikely the Spaniard will be back in the fold to feature in games for the remainder of 2023.

He told reporters: ‘Thiago is an ongoing thing. We cannot put any pressure there as well.

‘We expect him to be back start of the New Year. Another four weeks, I would say that is realistic. I can’t wait to have him back. No week on week update.’
