And some Manchester City supporters are under the impression bitter rivals United are to blame after they fell behind to Luton on Sunday. The reigning Premier League champions went in at the interval a goal down after Elijah Adebayo put the Hatters ahead in first-half injury time.

City's setback came less than 24 hours after Manchester United were stunned 3-0 at home to Bournemouth in a woeful result for the Red Devils. That was enough to leave certain fans convinced their club is currently “in the worst form ever.”

City becoming United,” raged one follower concerned for Pep Guardiola's side after conceding first for a fourth game running. Another asked: “Are our players hanging out with United players?! What’s happening?!”

The former withstood major pressure in midfield to find Alfie Doughty, who passed to Townsend on the right before his cross found the towering Adebayo.

Still, it didn't take City long to restore balance after Bernardo Silva converted an equaliser just after the hour mark, with Jack Grealish putting the visitors ahead just four minutes later. In doing so, last season's treble champions allayed any fears they were suffering from the same bug as nemeses United.

That is to say Erik ten Hag finds himself under renewed pressure following their collapse at home to the Cherries, who won at Old Trafford for the first time in their history on Saturday.
